Binari officially launched during Dutch Design Week

I’m excited to announce that, in collaboration with Lichtlab , I will be presenting a new series of my floor lamp design, which finally got a name: Binari. The name reflects the dual nature of the design, which combines the functions of a lamp and a table in a single object. Its modular design allows for a variety of finishes, offering the opportunity to explore color combinations that result in unique pieces tailored to any project.
Lichtlab is a Dutch lighting manufacturer where every lamp is carefully crafted in their workshop in the south of the Netherlands. Alongside me, several designers will also be presenting their unique designs, each one developed in collaboration with Lichtlab.

Floorlamp Binari at Object Rotterdam

During Object Rotterdam, I launched Binari in collaboration with Het Lichtlab. This floor lamp design merges the functionality of both a lamp and a side table. The lamp consists of multiple parts, allowing for a range of color options that result in a striking design.

The integrated side table provides space to place various items, such as a book, a cup of tea, or a plant. The lamp features a dimmer, allowing you to adjust the light to your preference. It is made of steel and is crafted in the Netherlands, adhering to the highest quality standards. Manufactured in a workshop in the south of the Netherlands, guaranteeing outstanding craftsmanship and long-lasting durability.

Precious Memory available at Vij5

I am very happy to share with you some news about a new collaboration with the Dutch label Vij5. Those of you who live in the Netherlands will most likely be familiar with them. The main actors of this label are Anieke Branderhorst and Arjan van Raadshooven.
From now on, they will produce, and sell my Precious Memory photo frame series.
Annieke and Arjan have added them to their webshop. If you are interested, you can take a look at their webshop.

Meet me during Dutch Design Week at Piet Hein Eek

Just a few more days and Dutch Design Week will kick-off in Eindhoven. Like last year, I will be part of the Designer’s Exhibition at Piet Hein Eek.
I will show new designs where I experimented with different techniques to create patterns and textures, without adding another medium. The idea was to work purely from the material. These experiments are an extension of my aim to stimulate a relationship between man and object through personalisation.
This new series forms a contrast to my designs where I did use colour. There, too, I experimented with new materials and techniques.
If you happen to be in Eindhoven during DDW, please feel more than welcome.

Glue – Amsterdam Connected by design 2023

It is just a few days left, and the design festival GLUE will open it’s doors.
You are cordialy invited to the exhibtion ‘Salon of Matter’, where I will be in the great company of Ruben vd Scheer, Frederike Top and Sanne van de Goor.
We are four designers, and makers working with four distinct materials – wood, acrylic, textile and metal.

During GLUE, I will show new work that eloborates on my recent designs, where I aim for stimulating a bond between owner and object. In my new designs I use materials in a subtractive way to investigate how to efficiently use the qualities of the material itself. By reducing the components to a minimum, I want to work as sustainable as I can, without losing sight of the goal I am striving for.

You can find us at the city centre of Amsterdam, at the beautiful StadsSalon.

Object Rotterdam

Lecture during Design Festival Glue in Amsterdam

This year the second edition of the design festival ‘Glue’ will take place in Amsterdam. Besides exhibiting my work, I will also give a lecture. This summer I completed my Master Design Research at the Piet Zwart Institute. My research is about the relationship between people and their objects in relation to sustainability. Because I realized that sustainability is not only about materials and technology, but also how we relate to the objects that surround us. By unraveling the relationship between people and objects, I wanted to gain insight into how designers can foster a relationship between people and objects so that they last as long as possible. Stop by and find out what designers can make love flourish once more.

Dutch Design Week 2020

Due to the pandemie Dutch Design Week 2020 will be exclusively an online event. I attend the online festival with my design of the ‘Urban Nomad’. I revised the design with the knowledge I gained during my Master Design Research I started in 2019. Within the Master I am researching how I can stimulate the relationship between object and consumer. For me, the key of sustainability lies within that relationship. It makes little sense to make products that are made in a sustainable manner but no one wants to keep.

Isabel Quiroga for Uniqka

Amsterdam based designer Isabel Quiroga created a side table for Uniqka.
Orginal it was designed as a storage for reading
materials.
Zin functions as a coffee table and a warm cup of coffee
can be enjoyed while reading. With the help of the leather handle,
ZIN can be carried to any desired place, if it’s inside or outside. Uniqka is an Istanbul-based
design brand, focusing on craft and material. The emphasis is on the
versatility and elegance of leather.
